will work for food…… seriously!!!
A rainy night in La Bodega. It is a Spanish restaurant with three different sections. One is the chill out place where people drink and eat tapas, the other is the fine dining area that is cozy with the dim yellow light and lastly is the lounge that serves drinks and desserts. Currently, there are 3 La Bodegas in Bangsar, the first is in Jalan Telawi and the latest branch is in Bangsar Shopping Centre.
The fine dining area… very romantic, ok?? Guyz, please bring your girlfriend there.
These were the tapas we ordered. When the food arrived, I was like "Oh, my gosh! The serving is soooooo little!! How would it fill a hungry woman like me?" :P By the way, the basket full of baguette was not one of the tapas but was a compliment, good for those big eaters who simply adore baguette. Ahem, let me introduce each of the tapas to you. There were Salchichas de ternera y ajillo en vino tinto con queso feta, Salmon a la plancha con salsa verde and Setas a la plancha con salsa romesco! Phew! The names are amazing, aren’t they? Hehe. Pardon me for being so shocked since i’m illiterate in Spanish.
Ok, by now you may ask "Translation, please". Here we go. The first is Spicy beef and garlic sausages in red wine with feta cheese, Grilled salmon with salsa verde and Grilled portobello mushroom with romesco. The sausages are not really that spicy based on our Malaysian taste but I have to admit that the feta cheese taste really good along with the sauce. Somehow it taste something like those Taiwanese sausages. Next is the grilled salmon, it is rather normal but I couldn’t figure out what was the greenish puree on top. That is the salsa mentioned in the name, I supposed, but not sure what is it made of. But I just couldn’t care less anymore since it doesn’t taste weird and suspicious. And then there is the grilled mushroom, don’t think you can tell that it’s mushroom just by looking at the pic. Sitting comfortably next to it is another type of salsa (orange in color) and again I also don’t know what it’s made of.
I simply
this bread (the grainy one)!! It was hot and crispy outside but so soft and spongy inside. Those grains added extra crispiness to the bread. It was really love at first bite! I was asking a second helping but they were running out of it and I had to wait for like 20 mins to taste it again. Along with the bread came 2 types of cheese (on the right is feta cheese and on the left is…. erm, sorry, I forgot the name >_<) and some olive oil with balsamic vinegar (in the middle). I really like the long rectangular serving plate, it looks so rectangularish and cool!.
Let me proudly present to you, the stars of the night, ddrrrooooooom… the tasting plate and tuna sashimi! In the tasting plate, from right to left: Condit of chicken, crushed potato and roasted garlic Beef tenderloin, pinenut, apple puree and spinach Braised lamb shank, garlic mash and asparagus tips. On another plate is the tuna loin sashimi, glazed peach and black sesame. This was my favourite among the stars. The tuna was so well marinated that it was so juicy and so flavourful. It was soooooo yummilicious!!
At last, here comes the desserts of the night. These were taken in the lounge area. Naranjas al conae - Caramelised oranges marinated in gran torres orange liquer and Creme Catalana - Burnt catalan cream (the Spanish version of creme brulee). The caramelised oranges (at the back) were not really sweet enough and it taste rather normal, like I could have done it at home too, if I have the time… :P The creme brulee (in front) was better, although it might be rather sweet for some people but it’s definitely recommended for those who have sweet tooth.
